The only thing that frustrates drivers in big cities more than traffic, is the challenge to find a place to park. Parking is a never-ending issue in metropolitan areas. It often can be deterrent to wanting to drive, live or visit certain areas. But a number of new tech-driven “smart parking” projects could help curb those concerns.
MeterFeeder, a Pittsburgh-based company, and Uncanny Vision have created a unique parking solution for garages. The pay-as-you-go system enables users to have their parking fees automatically charged to a designated account, utilizing license plate recognition cameras.
El Paso, Texas has launched an entire new version of its ParkMobile App, called Park 915. The app-based system provides drivers with a map view of available parking spots and the ability to extend their parking time using the app.
